Food for Thought and Board of Directors Meeting; Everyone Welcome! [Online; Free; RSVP]

FreeYour co-op’s Board of Directors will meet virtually on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Please RSVP here by noon on that Thursday to receive your Zoom link. Your Zoom link will be emailed to you on the day of the meeting.

This meeting will start with our “Food for Thought” speaker series presentation! These 20-minute Ted Talk style speeches will take place at the beginning of each board meeting and highlight presenters from diverse and marginalized groups within the Frederick community. Our hope is to center different voices in order to learn about the joys, struggles, and experiences within Frederick and emphasizes our co-op principles of education and concern for community. Due to limited meeting time, there will be no Q&A but contact information and resources will be shared for follow up conversations.
This month’s Food for Thought speaker is Kathleen Prest, Foster Parent Licensing Coordinator and Case Manager for San Mar Treatment Foster Care.
Kathleen Prest is a licensed master level social worker, and has been working in the field of social work for almost 10 years. Kathleen received her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree from Shippensburg University, where she also helped advance a job skills program for high school students with disabilities. At this time, Kathleen is working at San Mar, Family and Community Services serving as the Licensing and Recruitment Coordinator for the Treatment Foster Care program. Kathleen’s goal in this role is to diversify the group of families within San Mar’s Foster Care network, and bring San Mar’s presence into Frederick County. In her free time Kathleen enjoys volunteering, kayaking, and playing board games with friends. Kathleen’s long term career goal is to gain more experience, and pursue an opportunity to teach social work courses at the college level.
